More From Iowa

It appears that the Coralville Reservoir crested early this morning, and the Iowa River is cresting now in Iowa City about 1.5 feet lower than predicted. However, water will continue to flow over the spillway through this week even without additional rains. Unlike the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, which will likely be below flood stage in a few days, Iowa City and Coralville will experience flooding for an extended period. Dubuque Street, the main road from I-80 into downtown Iowa City, was under water for 3 months during the 1993 flood, and the water level is much higher this time.

  • Us Nebraskans might be forced to admit the grass is greener on the Iowa side (in the places where there still is grass).
