Sweet & Sour Refrigerator Pickles
There's lots more product news this month, as well as a great recipe for pickles using Watkins Pickling Spice. Here's hoping my dad's garden produces an abundance of cucumbers this year...my husband loves pickles!

Lemon Crème Body Butter. As a result of significantly increased sales and production of Lemon Crème Body Butter, Watkins has halved the price of this luxurious body cream! This new price starts in August; the August Highlights catalog was printed prior to this price reduction and does not reflect the new lower price. However, when an order is placed for the Lemon Crème Body Butter, the lower price will be given. The new price is $6.99 US/$10.99 CDN.
Inferno Sauce and Tropical Salsa. From Watkins: We expect to run out of stock of both Inferno Sauce and Tropical Salsa in the coming months. We have had difficulty obtaining a raw material used in both Salsas. We are continuing to search for a suitable replacement. We don't know how long these products will remain out of stock, but we are doing all we can to resume production. Here is our best estimate of how long our current supplies will last:
In the US:
#01056 Inferno Sauce: November
#01057 Tropical Salsa: July - August
In Canada:
#01056 Inferno Sauce: August
#01057 Tropical Salsa: August
Aloe & Green Tea Clarifying Skin Tonic. Watkins has decided to discontinue its Aloe & Green Tea Clarifying Skin Tonic (product #03047), effective immediately in the US and when current supplies run out in Canada. Difficulties with the production of the Skin Tonic coupled with low sales caused us to reevaluate our production schedule and, ultimately, to stop production on the product altogether. Unfortunately, the problems occurred well after the publication of the September Highlights Catalog, which features the Clarifying Skin Tonic. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you. Any outstanding backorders for this product will be canceled.
Pickling Spice is back! This traditional English- style mixture of whole and broken spices, herbs and seeds is used primarily for pickling fruits and vegetables, as well as making chutneys and spiced vinegar. It's best for sweet-type pickles, including pickled beets, but is also excellent for use in marinades, preserves, relishes, sauerbraten and pot roast. Add to cooking water for beets, green or red cabbage, broccoli and spinach. It's great for boiling shrimp and other seafood, and is essential for corned beef brisket. But you'd better hurry, because it's available for a very limited time! (35 g/1.2 oz) Product #01978. $4.59 US.
