Both Mom & Dad were given corsages to wear, but Dad took his off before I could get his photo. Mom was also given a necklace.

After the parade, the folks were content to hang out at home. Monte and I went back downtown, where Monte filled out a card to vote on his favorite vehicles in different categories. His favorite vehicle of all the categories was the GTX. We ran into our friend Sherry, whom we know from the Central Nebraska Writer’s Network. (None of us have attended CNWN meetings for a couple years, though I keep thinking I’ll start going again.) Funnily enough, we last saw Sherry a year ago at the 2007 Chapman Days. |

We hired a couple guys to tear out the section of chimney from the roof to the attic floor; they got that done last month. Today the chimney guy came and put an insert from the attic floor down to the wood stove, and put in a new chimney to the roof. He also reconfigured the pipe from the stove to the wall. Now we’ll be able to sleep better this winter knowing the house is much less likely to burn to the ground!
