|Combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and water in large saucepan. Simmer on medium heat until sauce begins to thicken. Add apples, lemon juice and margarine. Simmer until apples are tender.
Meanwhile, combine flour, baking powder, and sugar in bowl. Cut in margarine until mixture is slightly crumbly. Mix milk and beaten egg together and add to flour. Stir to make a stiff dough.
Pour apples and sauce into 9x9 baking dish. Divide dough into golf-ball sized balls. Roll balls between hands and then mash into biscuit shapes. Place biscuits over the apples in a single layer.
Bake in a 400Âº F oven for 25 minutes, or until biscuits are browned on top.
This recipe can be doubled to go into a 9x13 pan.
For a fancier top, roll dough on a floured surface and cut into round biscuits or other shapes.
