Watkins Makes Cameo in New Oprah Film

Watkins on eBay
March Sales
Does Oprah use Watkins products? How about Halle Berry? Or Michael Ealy? (Whoever he is.) I recently received information--including photo evidence--that such might be the case!
First came Door to Door, a TV movie starring William H. Macy about the life of Watkins associate Bill Porter. Now Oprah, not wanting to be "behind the times" has joined the bandwagon by including Watkins products in her production of Oprah Winfrey Presents: Their Eyes Were Watching God, which premieres on ABC television Sunday, March 6.
Was this product placement simply because the production staff needed 1920s-looking props for a setting in a general store? And because Watkins products--which have been sold for the past 137 years--are period-appropriate? Or was it because Oprah herself has long used Watkins White Cream Liniment to ease her aching muscles after long days of taping her shows? Read the report below--and view the photo evidence--for yourself.

From Watkins Inc.:
Watkins products fill the shelves of a 1920s general store in Oprah Winfrey Presents: Their Eyes Were Watching God, which premieres on ABC television Sunday, March 6. The movie is based upon the 1937 novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Harlem renaissance author Zora Neale Hurston. Halle Berry stars as the beautiful and resilient Janie Crawford in the story of one woman's quest for love and spiritual fulfillment despite society's-and her lovers'-expectations of a woman of color in America in the late 1920s.
Michael Ealy ("Barbershop"), Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson and Emmy Award winner Ruby Dee also star, with a strong supporting ensemble cast. The screenplay was co-written by Pulitzer Prize winning author Suzan-Lori Parks and is directed by Darnell Martin.
Clearly, Oprah has chosen the best actors, writers and directors for this project, so it's no coincidence that Oprah's production staff came to Watkins to help stock their shelves with retro-looking products. Watkins gladly filled their wish list with our current products: White Cream Liniment, Menthol Camphor Ointment, Petro-Carbo Salve, Bay Rum Tonic, Mouthwash Concentrate, Cinnamon, Pepper, Vanilla, Baking Powder, Baking Cocoa, and several 6 oz. extracts. While the products served as props, we wouldn't be surprised if Halle Berry, or any other member of the cast and crew, didn't employ a little White Cream Liniment to help ease the aches from a tough day on the set.
Oprah Winfrey Presents: Their Eyes Were Watching God premieres on ABC Sunday, March 6, 9:00 p.m. EST/8:00 p.m. CST.

*No celebrity endorsement of Watkins products implied. Well, okay, it's implied, but still, you shouldn't infer it.
**Seasons For Success doesn't necessarily endorse the movie; from the previews I've seen it sure doesn't appear family-friendly. :-(
