Fire Pepper Bread
Quick Apple-Cinnamon Bread
- Watkins Good Tastings Bread Mix
Watkins has some new products, including Good Tastings Bread Mix. I love this mix! So quick--just add a carbonated beverage to it, stick it in a pan and bake. It makes a dense, rather sweet loaf. But then, I've only used ginger ale. Beer might give it more punch, but I haven't tried that yet, despite having a couple bottles on hand. I dare not touch those bottles, though, because they belong to my husband, Monte, who is apparently aging them.
Last summer Monte's boss gave him a bottle of Bud Light, and it's now hidden in the back of the fridge behind three half-emptied bottles of wine (at least they were opened!) On the other hand, the bottle of Corona sitting on the bottom shelf of the fridge's door is obviously much more special. It was surreptitiously handed to Monte late at night by our drug-dealing neighbor, likely as a bribe to not call the cops on him. (We have since moved to a better neighborhood.) Monte was quite pleased with the impromptu gift, telling me Corona was his favorite beer. That was in early 2000. After four years, I've begun to have some doubts that he really plans to drink it...
Anyway, one loaf of this Good Tastings bread doesn't last more than 24 hours at my house. And there's just Monte and me. And our cat, Yoda. Hmmm, maybe it wasn't dear hubby who was cutting those jagged slices after all...
