Product Update
Apple Cider Turkey with Gravy
Watkins on eBay
November Sales
"You won't believe how wonderful your home will smell while cooking this turkey," writes Cheryl O. from Oregon. I haven't tried the recipe (below) myself, but I believe her. It sounds delicious! I wonder if my family would agree; it looks like Thanksgiving is going to be at my house this year. Would the Aurand family scream bloody murder if I cooked Apple Cider Turkey instead of plain ole roasted? Hmmm...
I can't believe October is gone already! I didn't get those 2004 Gift Line product reviews up yet! Instead, in view of the upcoming holiday, I compiled a Safe Turkey Cooking Guide to help me (and you) figure out how to cook that bird this year without everyone keeling over from food poisoning afterwards.
Here's an interesting fact: a year ago (before I lost my website and got it back again) a large proportion of people who found my website were searching for a recipe for Candied Yams. I seemed to have cornered the market on that search term. So this year in anticipation, I've put up several candied yam recipes. Bon appetite!

Watkins will temporarily run out of stock of Garlic & Chives Seasoning (Product #01970) within the next month in both the US and Canada.
They are having difficulty obtaining a key ingredient used in Garlic & Chives Seasoning, so are not able to produce more at this time. They expect to be out of stock for a couple of months while they find a suitable source. Once the current supply of Garlic & Chives Seasonings is gone, they will not take back orders.
Watkins apologizes for any inconvenience this might cause and will do all they can to get this popular seasoning back in stock as soon as possible.

Recipe from Cheryl O. in Oregon.
1 whole turkey
¼ cup Watkins Original Grapeseed Oil
1 tsp Watkins Rosemary
1 tsp Watkins Thyme
1 tsp Watkins Marjoram
1 tsp Watkins Granulated Black Pepper
1 apple
1 cup water
2-3 tbl Watkins Traditional Cider Brew
Mix water and Traditional Cider Brew and pour into bottom of a roasting pan that has a rack. Prepare turkey by coating it with Grapeseed Oil and sprinkling it with the seasonings. Cut the apple into slices and place inside cavity. (This is just for flavor, not to be eaten.)
Place turkey breast-side up on rack in shallow roasting pan. Push meat thermometer into thickest part of turkey thigh. Cover turkey loosely with a tent of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Bake at 325°F. Baste the turkey with pan drippings every hour after the first 1½ hours of cooking time, if desired. (See directions on turkey wrapper for baking times or use the Seasons For Success Safe Turkey Cooking Guide, below.) Remove the aluminum foil about 1-1½ hours before the end of the cooking time. Once the internal temperature reaches 180°F, the turkey is done.
